New 'Lost/Confused' Signs in Suzzallo/Allen Stacks

Some of you may have noticed signs on the range ends just outside the elevators and stairwell on Suzzallo 2nd floor that read, 'Lost or Confused Help Desks One Floor Down.' These were a pilot for the possibility of more of these throughout Suzzallo/Allen Stacks. The Signage Committee has now extend this pilot to all the floors of Suzzallo/Allen Stacks, strategically placing new, additional signs where there is most likely to be some confusion about finding certain call numbers.
The new signs are specific for each floor, e.g., Allen North 2nd will read, 'Lost or Confused Go to Ground Floor.' Then on the bottom of each of these signs, regardless of where they are located, will be listed 'or call 206-543-0242,' the Allen Information Desk phone number.
If you should receive a cell phone call from someone in response to the posting of these signs, your response would be one or more of these options:

1) Try to help the person as best you can over the telephone.

• Make sure they are on the right floor
• Make sure they are in the right library
• Etc.

2) If the desk is double-staffed, offer to come find the person and help them.

3) If the desk is single-staffed and you are unable to help them over the telephone, refer them to Suzzallo Circulation Desk by

• offering to transfer the call
• suggesting that the person come down to Suzzallo Circulation to see if someone is available to assist them in the stacks
