The manuscript materials currently stored at our Oaktree storage facility are being moved to our new space at Sand Point in early December, and none of it will be available for use between December 1 and January 5. The manuscript material stored on-site will still be accessible, but as you probably know there's nothing in any of the publicly available information about our holdings that will tell a patron whether the specific collection they want is stored on-site or off-site, so they'll need to contact Special Collections directly to find out whether we can retrieve what they need. (This is similar to the way things are already, with the difference that, rather than only
having to wait a few days for their boxes to be retrieved, they may have to wait up to a month.)
Of course we're posting this throughout the Division, on our part of the website (and on our Hours page, I think) and in all of the finding aids that are available on line, but...it's more important than ever to refer questions about using Special Collections materials directly to us, by phone or QuestionPoint, so that people don't come in expecting to use materials we can't retrieve for them.
