Religious Solicitation

Of late there have been pairs (mostly) of students making the rounds through Suzzallo Espresso & Market talking to students about 'their relationship to Christ' or some variation on this.  I believe it was last quarter that there was a group of students who were very aggressively approaching every person who passed through the Suzzallo security gates with the same kinds of questions.  These students were told that that was solicitation and that it is not allowed in the building.  They were told to confine these activities to the outside.

I suspect the current group may be associated with the former group.  If you see this kind of activity or if someone complains about this kind of activity, just print off a copy of the Libraries Code of Conduct (in the Info Index), mark the section that says,

Individuals will not:

  • Vend, peddle, solicit or petition in the libraries; post or distribute materials without permission.
And give this to them.  If this activity continues, we will need to begin creating a security report about the incidents; but I'm not sure that that is necessary just yet.

Let me know if you have any questions about this.
