Odegaard pilots closing to the general public at 8:00pm

Beginning on September 28, 2011, Odegaard Undergraduate Library will pilot a change in their hours of access for the general public. Beginning on the first day of classes for Autumn Quarter, access to Odegaard between 8:00 pm and 8:00 am Sunday-Thursday will be by current valid Husky Card only. Previously, non-UW users were able to remain in OUGL until 10:00 pm and re-enter at 6:00 am.

The change will create more capacity for the UW community and reduce some of the challenges during the transition in the late evening. Combined with the Spring Quarter elimination of informal passes given to students who do not always carry their Husky Cards, it is also expected to reduce some of the security issues that have resulted from some previous access challenges.

In order to facilitate communication of the change and to provide an extra hour of access for the general public, OUGL will add one hour to their opening schedule starting at noon on Saturdays and Sundays, while closing at 8:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Odegaard Autumn schedule of operating hours:
  • Sunday noon – Friday 8:00 pm
  • Saturday, noon – 8:00 pm  (8:00 pm – 8:00 am access by current valid Husky Card only)
