Receiving Reserves FAQ

What is the most important thing to remember?

If you have any questions or concerns, please call at 206-543-2990. We can often save a lot of time and trouble by getting involved at the beginning! We will be happy to come over to Suzzallo or have the professor come to our trailer to meet with us for in-depth troubleshooting.

General Questions

Where can I drop off reserves?

Reserve requests and materials can be dropped off in person at the 3rd Floor Media Help Desk in Suzzallo Library until the 1st day of classes Fall Qtr 2012 (Monday September 24). After that we will be back in business on the 2nd floor of Odegaard.

You can also submit requests online via this form:

http://lib.washington.edu/types/course/instructors/request

Material can also be sent through campus mail to OUGL Reserves Box 353080.

When will my material be available?

Electronic reserves will be available as soon as they are processed in the order they are received. E-Reserves requests may require a 2 week turnaround time at the beginning of the quarter. However because of construction, physical reserves (e.g. books) will be inaccessible until the 1st day of Fall Qtr. (Monday September 24). In the meantime, patrons should use the catalog to look to other copies in the system, through Summit, or Interlibrary Loan (ILL).

What will be happening to material on reserve for Summer Quarter?

At the end of Summer Qtr. beginning Monday August 20th we will begin removing items from the reserve shelf and returning them to general circulation. Material that is to remain on reserve for the Fall Qtr. will be taken away from the 3rd Floor Media Help Desk and relocated to the 2nd Floor of Odegaard Undergraduate Library. They will remain unavailable for use until the 1st day of Fall Qtr. (Monday September 24).

Can I access material on reserve for Fall Qtr?

Electronic reserves will be available as they are processed. However because of construction, physical reserves (e.g. books) will be inaccessible until the 1st day of Fall Qtr. (Monday September 24). Electronic Reserves

Can we scan from books or journals?

No. Unfortunately, we can scan only from loose 8 ½ by 11 sheets. However, ILL will scan and deliver via PDF articles - even those owned by the libraries. Details can be found at:

Also, there are 2 self-service scan stations on the 1st floor of Suzzallo near the Circulation Desk.

Can I manage my own electronic reserves?

Yes. Details can be found at:

Please fill out the online request form to ensure speed and accuracy. The form is available at:
