New Dawg Prints Printers Updates

All the Dawg Prints printers were replaced over the Summer.  Here are the implications for this:

  1. We are figuring these new printers out. Their use over the summer was not nearly as heavy as it is now, so we haven’t had much opportunity to see problems that may arise with the new ones and how to solve them.  The printer trouble-shooting page in the Info Index is likely to be a work-in-progress for a while, but continue to consult it in case whatever problem you come across has already been discovered.  In the meantime, if you solve a problem not already in the trouble-shooting guide, send your discovery to the alleninfo@uw.edu email address, and I will update the guide with your information.
  2. The wireless print drivers have all been updated to new ones.  Returning students who have the print drivers from last year will have to go to the Dawg Prints Website to download the new ones.  For Windows OS users, the old print drivers will automatically uninstall when the one ones are downloaded.  For Mac OSX users, they will have to manually uninstall the old print drivers before installing the new ones.  Anyone needing help with this process can be referred to the Computer Vet service on the 2nd floor of Odegaard (at the technical help desk).
  3. Students who send A4 print jobs will now get an error message when they select their print jobs from the queue at the release station.  The gist of the message is that A4 paper is not a supported paper size, that they need to resend their print job and select letter paper size.  They will not be charged for original job sent.
