When you are next on the Suzzallo Info Desk, face the front doors and notice that just to the left of the cabinet, on the lower edge of the counter-top, there are the letters K B; and directly beneath these there are the two light switches Marty references in his email below. Just be aware that one could easily inadvertantly press one of these 2 switches (which effect the lights in the Reading Room) especially when reaching for a rainy day bag. As Marty states below, he will be getting a switch plate installed over these switches to better secure them. In the meantime, add this bit of awareness to your movements around that part of the desk.

Hi Adam,
After exhausting all of the third floor solutions for the Reading Room light out problem, I remembered that there is an over ride switch at the info desk. That is what had been turned off.
On the return there are two letters on the edge. These letters, K & B, correspond to light switches mounted underneath the top surface at that position. They are pressure switches, so it is easy to activate them without knowing it.
I am going to see if I can have a switch cover put in place, but in the mean time, please alert anyone that may staff that desk to be aware of the switches.
