Public Printing Oddity

Recently there was a rash of very odd print jobs. A user would release their print jobs in the usual way, but instead of getting what they expected, the printer spewed out page after page of gibberish, often with just one or two printed lines across the tops of the pages. These print jobs would produce sometimes a hundred or more of these pages.
If any more of these occur, please email uwschelp@u.washington.edu with the following information:
  • The name the user gave the print job when it was sent to print
  • The approximate time it was sent
  • The exact location of the printer to which the job was released (Allen lobby left or right or Suzzallo 1st floor)
  • If at all possible, include particular PC from which the print job was sent
You can use the subject heading Garbage Printing, and please cc Adam on these emails.

If you are able to catch one of these print jobs as they are printing, you can stop and cancel them with these steps at the printer itself:
  1. The line 'Pause Printing' appears highlighted on the window
  2. Press the 'OK' button to the right
  3. In a moment the choice 'Resume Printing' or 'Cancel Printing' appears
  4. Use the arrow keys next to the 'OK' button to choose 'Cancel Printing' and press the 'OK' button
