I am sharing some information with you at the request of Stephanie Lamson, Preservation
Libarian. Stephanie was recently interviewed by a reporter from the New York Times
regarding bedbugs in libraries, with particular reference to the incident we had recently.
The story is expected to appear the week of October 15th but it could appear sooner.
It is likely that there will be questions from the press and from our users after the article appear.

Please refer all media inquiries to AC Petersen, Libraries Communications Officer,
acpete@uw.edu
She will vet the requests and assist Stephanie in responding. Stephanie is the expert on this
topic and, in keeping with Libraries guidelines for dealing with the media, is the Libraries’
spokesperson on this issue:
User Queries
When responding to user inquiries, please rely on the summary of the facts about the Libraries
incident. If the user wants more information, please escalate the question
in accordance with your unit procedure (refer to supervisor, ask user to send to QP, or whatever
you standard practice is). Stephanie is available to answer your questions, but please do not refer
users directly to her.
