Printing to be Down December 22nd and 23rd

The operating system on the Pharos servers needs to be updated, a process which requires taking these servers off line for the duration of the update.


At 10:00am on December 22 all public printing on the Pharos network will go down and will possibly remain down until 3:00pm on December 23.


The hope is that there will be very little demand for printing, but we will do as we always do when printing goes down:  offer to allow users to print to our desk printers at the Reference and Allen North Info Desks by using the desk computer not in use by you.  Offer to do this for prints jobs of 10 pages or less (as a guideline).


Users can take larger print jobs and any color print jobs to the Copy and  Mail Center in the basement of the Communications Building.  It is best if they take their print jobs on a flash drive, but they can also email their jobs to b042cmu@uw.edu.


We will post signs at the print stations and at the entrances to the buildings alerting users to the outage.
