Paper Size Prompt at Dawg Prints Printers

A-4 paper size is a commonly used paper size in many countries around the world, except the U.S.
International students often send documents to the public printers that require A-4 paper until they learn that 8.5"x11" is the equivalent local/standard paper size.

The print drivers at the public printers will not auto adjust to change the paper size from A-4 to 8.5"x11".

Two scenarios that occur at the public printers with A-4 "paper" documents that will/may require staff assistance:

Student selects A-4 paper size using the print manager, student clicks the document in the print queue and the following message appears: "unsupported paper size".  *The student will need to resend the document and specify 8.5"x11" as the paper size.

Students' laptop or word, excel, etc. application is pre-set to A-4 paper size.  Printer will lock up and display a prompt to select a paper tray.   Tap the 'reset' and 'cancel print job' options.  Selecting an 8.5"x11" paper tray does not work because the formatting is off.
  • The student (or desk staff) will need to change the paper size setting by clicking 'page layout' or 'page settings' (depending on the application) find the paper size options list and change to 8.5"x11".  The paper size cannot be changed using the print manager, you must use 'page layout' or 'page settings'.
