Here are the recommended practices for browser use at the Information Desks -
- Chrome is only used for ALMA.
- Use Firefox for everything else, including Desk Tracker
- When a user needs help with UW Libraries Search or anything to which they may need to login:
- Open a Private Browsing window. (This will open a temporary separate Firefox session, which you can close without effecting the primary session you opened when you came on desk.)
- In Firefox, click on File in the toolbar
- Click on Open New Private Window.
- After you are finished helping the user, simply close (X-out of) this window.
It is best practice to login as a guest when logging into UW Libraries Search to help a user. You will still be able to see everything as if you were logged in as yourself because you are recognized as being on campus.
