Dawg Prints Printers Printing Garbage Text

Hello,

Since the start of the quarter a few of you have reported to us an issue regarding the printers printing out many pages (50+) of printer code language (garbage text). We are working to resolve the issue but have thus far been unable to ascertain why this is happening. We are asking for your help in the attempt to remedy the issue.

What Can You Do

Please have the user themselves report the problem directly to us at uwcshelp@u.washington.edu.

Since they will be requesting a refund our IT Team can request some additional information from the user that is needed to attempt to diagnose the issue such as operating system they’re using, software program used to create the document, file type and what device was used to print the file (personal PC or a library PC).

How to Stop the Printer from Printing the Text

If you encounter the printer printing these pages there should be an option on the printer screen to cancel the current print job.

If this fails to work.

When there is a pause in the printing cycle turn the power off/on that will clear all print jobs that have been released to the printer

Please remember there is no need to place an out of order sign on the printer as this has nothing to do with the physical printer. The next person printing to the printer will most likely be unaffected by it.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has and may continue to cause & appreciate your corporation.

Thank you,
